Grand Prix-win for Bertram Allen and High Valley at Sunshine Tour

This year’s Sunshine Tour has started out well for Bertram Allen. With High Valley winning the Small Grand Prix Saturday,  the 7yr old mare, Fairytale, topping the lists twice, Baila du Loup winning the 6 yr old class and Dino W  finishing third in the 1.50 m Big Tour D.

Saturday, February 18th, Bertram climbed to the top of the podium riding High Valley, winning the Small Grand Prix ( FEI Ranking class). The jump-off was contested by 16 riders. Early in the competition, Manuel Fernández Saro on Extra Van Essene, led the class with a time of 37.47 sec. Bertram Allen was second to last to jump and shot into the lead, knocking the Spanish Olympic rider off of the top spot with a time of 35.28 sec.

February 17th, Bertram Allen was once again among the winners, finishing third with Dino W in the 1.50 m Big Tour D. The fastest clear was Carlos López with Cuplandra. Pedro Veniss came second.

The same day, in the 1.40m Big Tour C, Bertram Allen and the lovely gelding High Valley came second. 

Also, the younger horses have done great this week, with the 7yr old mare, Fairytale, topping the lists twice -  a horse with a big future ahead of her - and Baila du Loup winning the 6 yr old class.

In the 1.30 m 7yr old class February 16th, Bertram and Fairytale topped the list of the class, which included 150 horses overall to start, and 69 clear rounds. The Spanish rider, Luis Astolfi with Easo came second, and the American rider, Catherine Pasmore with Chantal finished third. The day before Bertram and Fairytale also topped the list in section A 1.30m 7yr old class, finishing second out of 75 competitors. Spanish rider Jaime Gabarrón won the class, while Chloe Winchester with Firefly ended-up third.

In the Section B 1.20m, 6 yr old class, Bertram Allen topped the podium riding Baila du Loup, while another Irish rider, Shane Goggins, was second, and Ari González third. 164 horses participated, 112 went clear.
