Bertram makes it a double win in CSI5* Tryon

The 8-year-old gelding Lafayette Van Overis (Kashmir van Schuttershof / Tauber An het Kapelhof), which Bertram took over the mount in July this year, was on top of his game in Tryon last weekend, with winning both the $36,000 1m45 Speed Class on Friday and the $72,000 1m50 Sunday Classic.

Course designer Guilherme Jorge (BRA) tested 66 entries over the first-round of the 1m50 course on Sunday, with 14 horse-and-rider pairs welcomed back to challenge the jump-off. Bertram, who had already won Friday’s $36,000 Speed Stake CSI 5* aboard Lafayette, admitted that he wasn’t really going for the win with his still-green and recently-acquired ride:

"This was the first time Lafayette jumped such a big and difficult class, but he put his head down and tried his best
," Bertram said.

The first week of the US tour has been a success for Bertram and his two horses who has been placed every day except from the Grand Prix where Casper had one unlucky down.

Next stop on the tour is the CSI4* Washington International Horse Show.
