The chestnut stallion has formed a successful partnership with Bertram:

- Romanov really was the horse of my lifetime. He was introduced to me by my friend Billy Twomey and played a huge part in launching my career. Romanov has everything anyone could wish for in a horse, and he gave me his best always.

Romanov has been a regular on showjumping-podiums around the world. Known to be a fighter with a huge heart and an intelligent mind, also well-known for his front leg technique, his fitness for his age and his willingness to work. He will now retire to The Stallion Company, where he will return to breeding.

- I will really miss competing him, but as he has reached the age of 19, Marlen and I agree it is time to stop. I do look forward to seeing his offspring, and I hope I can make his retirement a happy one, said Bertram.
