Valkenswaard United placed third

Valkenswaard United’s duo of Marcus Ehning (riding Funky Fred) and Bertram Allen (riding Molly Malone) came in third in the GCL competition in Cascais this weekend, in which put Bertram's team, Valkenswaard United, back into the lead in the overall Global Champions League ranking.

After the Cascais leg the overall League ranking is tight at the top with Valkenswaard United on 170 points, Hamburg Diamonds hot on their heels on 166 points and St Tropez Pirates close behind on 160.

Bertram said:
We had a few fences down today but we finished up third, so we’re still at the races. It’s important to keep consistent, and have good results. It’s another good score, so we’ll keep having to go to the end. Marcus and Alberto will be in Chantilly, and then we’ll have a look [at the rest of the season."

Fourth in the Grand Prix

In the Grand Prix on Saturday Bertram & Molly again had a super round, as one of the final riders to go. The pair went fast and clear around the course, taking the fences with ease. In the jump-off, Bertram was again the final rider to go as he powered around the fences looking set to take over the lead. But an unlucky rub meant the pair paid the price, out of contention and off the podium, finishing fourth.

Danielle Goldstein (ISR) took the win, Maikel van der Vleuten finished 2nd and Martin Fuchs 3rd.
