Bertram Allen ending up third in the Longines Speed Challenge in Hong Kong

Last year Bertram and Quiet Easy 4 stole the show in Hong Kong by winning the Longines Speed Challenge, as the two flew around the course as the last rider in. This year, arriving fresh from picking up Ireland’s “showjumper of the year” award for the third straight year, Bertram and his quick and clever 13-year-old chestnut gelding ended up third in the Speed class with a time of 69.69 seconds (with the added 4 seconds on the original time: 65.69, caused by faults).

Pius Schwizer finished second with the time of 67.21 seconds, while the world number one, Daniel Deusser, became this year's winner, stopping the clock on 67.01 seconds.

The Longines Speed Challenge has become a classic. Considered a veritable world championship, crowning the fastest rider competing in the events that span the three continents of the Longines Masters, it has become the most thrilling and spectacular competition of the Hong Kong weekend.
