Another win for Bertram and Gin Chin

Just two weeks after they won the Grand Prix in Sweden, Bertram and Gin Chin van het Lindenhof win the 1m55 Martin Collins Enterprises Christmas Tree Stakes at the CSI5* Olympia Horse Show in London.

Following a superb year for Irish Show Jumping on the international stage at underage and senior level in 2017, a host of Ireland’s top athletes gathered at the Killashee House Hotel in Naas Co Kildare last weekend for the prestigious Irish Show Jumping Awards Gala. Bertram was honoured with two awards: The FEI Silver Badge of Honour and The Horse Sport Ireland Team of the Year Award together with the European Championship winning team.

For the third year in a row, Bertram Allen has won the 1m55 Sweden Grand Prix at the CSI4* Sweden International Horse Show. Last year he took the win together with Molly Malone, in 2015 he grabbed the glory riding Quiet Easy.

Victory to Bertram Allen and It's ME in Stockholm

Bertram was unbeatable in the 1m40 ranking class yesterday at the CSI4* Sweden International Horse Show after producing the fastest clear with the brilliant 9-year-old gelding, It's ME.

Harry Allen wins the "Rising Star Award" at the FEI AWARD GALA 2017

Harry Allen (IRL), double gold medallist at the FEI European Pony Championships in Kaposvar (HUN) last August, was recognised for his numerous outstanding performances throughout the year, winning the FEI Rising Star Award at the ninth edition of the FEI Awards Gala 2017 at the KIBON Avanza in Montevideo (URU) last night. This award celebrates youth, talent, determination and the stars of the tomorrow.

Valkenswaard United wins the GCL of Doha and finish second in the overall Championship.

Valkenswaard United, who took the title in the inaugural GCL last year, were represented by Bertram Allen (Molly Malone) and Alberto Zorzi (Fair Light van’t Heike) in the GCL final in DOHA this weekend.

Bertram Allen and Gin Chin with 5th place in the Equita Masters in Lyon

Saturday's highlight at the CSI5* -W EquitaLyon was the 1m60 Equita Masters, where the 20 best riders from Friday's Grand Prix were qualified to compete in a challenging 1m60 course. The ten best pairs over the first round, were then set to continue in the second round over a shortened track. Bertram was riding his new mount, the 11-year-old gelding Gin Chin van het Lindenhof (Chin Chin x Calido I), who set in for a beautiful and fast second round to finish in 5th place.

Bertram and the 8-year-old gelding Christy (Indoctro / Clinton I ), owned by Ballywalter Farms, finished 3rd in today's 1m35 for seven and eight year old horses at the CSI5* -W Lyon. Carlos Lopez (COL) won the class of 51 riders.

Bertram with 3rd place in the CSI2* Grand Prix at Sentower Park

Bertram and GK Casper finished third in the CSI2* 1m45 Grand Prix at Sentower Park this weekend, where only 9 out of 54 starters managed to jump clear. The Egyptian rider, Abdel Said, snatched the winner's prize, while Kevin Gielen finished 2nd.

This week Bertram will be heading to Oslo Horse Show for the opening round of the 2017/2018 FEI World Cup series. Bertram is bringing Dino, Izzy and It's Me.

Successful weekend in Barcelona!

Bertram and his two horses, Dino W and Molly Malone have had great success this weekend at the FEI Nations Cup TM Jumping Final CSIO BARCELONA.

Runner-up finish for Ireland in the Barcelona Challenge Cup

The Irish Show Jumping team finished as runners-up in yesterday's FEI Challenge Cup final in Barcelona, Spain. The reigning European Champions finished with a total of nine faults. The victory went to The United Arab Emirates who finished with only three time faults. Brazil finished third on 11 faults.

Bertram Allen wins Team Gold at the European Championships

Rodrigo Pessoa’s team of Shane Sweetnam, Bertram Allen, Denis Lynch and Cian O’Connor, produced an outstanding performance over three demanding days of jumping, to snatch the coveted gold medal yesterday from hosts Sweden who had been leading heading into the final day at the Ullevi arena.

Bertram and Molly deliver two good rounds in the Aga Khan trophy.

The Irish team of Bertram Allen, Cian O'Connor, Mark McAuley and Denis Lynch finished fifth in yesterdays Aga Khan Nations Cup at the Dublin Horse Show. The team were joint leaders after the first round with zero faults, but finished 17th in the second round. Bertram and Molly delivered a solid performance with two great rounds and only one down in the second round.

Bertram Allen makes it a double of wins at Dublin Horse Show

All the horses have been unbelievable during the first three days of the Dublin Horse Show. On Wednesday, Bertram and the nine-year-old Izzy by Picobello were runners-up in the 1.50 - 1.60m Sport Ireland Classic. Yesterday, they won the 1m55 Anglesea Serpentine Stakes. Today Bertram and the seven-year-old mare Calafrieda won the 1m40 International 7 to 8-year olds (Round 2) by Connolly's Red Mills, after having finished 4th in the first round.

Bertram and Izzy by Picobello finished in runner- up position on the opening day of Dublin Horse Show yesterday, stopping the clock at 41. 92 seconds in the second round of the 1m50/1m60 Sport Ireland Classic.

Another win to Valkenswaard United

Valkenswaard United stole the show this weekend, as Allen and his Italian team-mate Alberto Zorzi stormed to a blazing win at the Global Champions League in Berlin. Bertram rode the talented gelding Izzy By Picobello (Cicero – Capriano), who ones again showed himself as a consistent and promising horse, finishing with one clear round and one fast on the four.  


Individual Gold for Harry Allen at pony Europeans

Harry Allen finished off a fantastic week for Irish showjumping today, when he added the individual gold medal at the pony European championships in Hungary to the team gold he won two days earlier with team-mates Kate Derwin, Abbie Sweetnam and Ciaran Nallon.

Bertram and Hector selected for the Irish team for the Europeans in Gothenburg.

We are happy to announce that Bertram and Hector have been selected to represent the Irish team in the Europeans this summer.

Double third places for Bertram & Molly in Aachen

Bertram and Molly took two solid podium placing’s with two third place finishes overall in Aachen this weekend: Wednesday, in the Turkish Airlines-Prize of Europe, and Saturday in the Jumping Competition. At the same day, Bertram and Calafrieda finished fourth in the Sparkassen-Youngsters-Cup – FINAL, while Bertram and Dino went clear in the SAP-Prize on Sunday, finishing 11th.


Bertram Allen and Christy Jnr come out on top in Falsterbo Derby

Just four of the 14 starters managed to jump clear in the opening round of the traditional Falsterbo Derby today, where Bertram managed to produce the fastest clear in the jump-off (49.31) with the eight-year-old gelding Christy Jnr. Bertram was followed by Shane Sweetnam in second place and Cian O’Connor on third place. 

Bertram says:
"His only eight - but he's got such a brilliant mind. He doesn't care about anything, and he always tries his best and wants to do the right thing."

Bertram tops the lists in Falsterbo!

Bertram had a great start the first day of the CSIO5* Falsterbo Horse Show yesterday, topping the list in the 1m50 Grand Prix qualification riding Izzy by Picobello and finishing second with Christy Jnr in the 1m45. Bertram will jump Izzy in the Grand Prix on Sunday (14.00).

Bertram and GK Casper finished as runners-up in yesterday's 1m50 class at the CSIO5* in Sopot, while the Polish rider Jaroslaw Skrzyczynski snatched the winner's prize. Casper was also clear in the 1m50 on Friday. A promising horse. Next show will be Treffen. 


Bertram topped the lists in St.Gallen

It's been another successful weekend for Bertram and his string of horses in CSIO5* St. Gallen, claiming two runner-up placings during four days, in addition to Sunday's CSIO5* Grand Prix win with Hector van d'Abdijhoeve.

Irish riders recorded a remarkable one-two finish in today’s (Sunday) €200,000 five-star Grand Prix at St Gallen in Switzerland, with Bertram taking the winners prize ahead of Sligo’s Richard Howley in second. Out of 50 pairs starting, only 25 % proceeded to the second round.

Bertram's Acapella has passed away.

Together with Acapella Z (Alcamera La Silla - Renata La Silla / Ramiro Z), Bertram won the European Championships Individual Gold medal and Team Silver medal in Bishop Burton in 2010. The following year the duo won Individual and Team Silver medals. Acapella was exceptional, a real winner.

Five star victory to Bertram and Molly in Hamburg

It's been a great weekend for Bertram and his string of horses at Hamburg’s five-star Global Champions Tour show in Germany.

Bertram and Christy was unbeatable in the  2* Big Tour  this week at Tops International Arena. Bertram Allen entered the ring as 20th starter and rode the course in such a fast time that none of the 42 riders after him could better his time.

Bertram and GK Casper claims another 1m45 win

This week Bertram once again climbed to the top of the podium riding GK Casper in the CSI2* 1,45m at Tops International Arena, which included 150 horses overall to start. With Casper, Bertram has claimed three 1m45 wins this year - a very promising horse. The same day Bertram ended as runner-up in the 1m35 7-year-old class, riding Calafrieda.

Bertram will be competing at the Royal Windsor Horse Show this weekend.

Bertram Allen stays within the top fifteen of the world’s best riders, according to the official Longines FEI Jumping rankings just published for the month of April.

Quiet Easy sold to Norwegian rider, Johan Sebastian Gulliksen.

The Norwegian rider, Johan Sebastian Gulliksen, will be the new rider of the 13-year old Oldenburger gelding Quiet Easy by Quidam’s Rubin (Quidam de Revel), after the sale of the gelding from Quainton Stud to the Norwegian Gjelsten family.

Bertram Allen’s team leads the Global Champions League

Valkenswaard United, represented by Bertram Allen, Alberto Zorzi, Marcus Ehning, Janika Sprunger and Sanne Thijssen, currently leads the Global Champions League. This weekend, in Shanghai, Valkenswaard United’s heavyweight squad ensured they held on to their lead for the third leg in a row. Bertram has been respresenting the team in every leg so far.

It's been a successful weekend for Bertram and his youngsters in Eschweiler this weekend, claiming three wins during three days, including today's CSI3* Grand Prix win.

Valkenswaard United made their Championship intentions clear yesterday, with another incredible display of teamwork and skill in the first round of the Global Champions League of Miami Beach. Bertram Allen and his Italian team-mate, Alberto Zorzi, put in a perfect performance to ensure their team would be on pole heading into Saturday’s final, breaking away from the rest of the field as the only combination to jump clear.

Miami next to go!

Bertram and his GCL Italian team-mate Alberto Zorzi will compete in the GCL Miami Beach this weekend, hoping for a repeat performance which brought Valkenswaard United to a top podium position in Mexico last week. Bertram and Hector van d’Abdijhoeve, who did a fantastic job in the league competition, also ended at fifth place in the Grand Prix in Mexico. We also hope to see Quiet Easy repeating his performance from last weekend, where he won the CSI5* 1.45m class.

The reigning Champions Valkenswaard United stole the show in Mexico City this weekend, as Allen and his Italian team-mate Alberto Zorzi finished the two-round contest on an eight fault total, to take the trophy by a single penalty.

Bertram up to 14th place in the FEI Longines rankings.

Bertram moved up six places last month at the FEI LONGINES rankings from 20th to 14th, while World Cup champion McLain Ward has reclaimed the top spot, according to the latest FEI rankings released today. This put Allen in a position to be the highest placed Irish rider.

Bertram is currently in Mexico to participate in the first round of the Global Champions League presenting the Valkenswaard team.

Successful weekend with the youngsters in Peelbergen

All the youngsters were quite successful this weekend at the CSI2* show in Peelbergen, collecting dozens of rosettes.

Bertram and GK Casper wins the CSI2* 1,45m Hansen Dranken Prix in Peelbergen

Friday, February 31st, Bertram climbed to the top of the podium riding GK Casper in the CSI2* 1,45m Hansen Dranken Prix in Peelbergen, which included 71 horses overall to start. 

GCL team announced: Bertram stays with the reigning champions, Valkenswaard United.

The Global Champions League has announced the full 2017 team line up. According to their announcement, reigning Champions Valkenswaard United will be looking for a repeat of their debut success after the team made history by taking the inaugural GCL Championship crown. This season will see star striker Bertram Allen return alongside top Italian athlete Alberto Zorzi (ITA). New to the squad will be the legendary Marcus Ehning (GER), Janika Sprunger (SUI) and U25 rider Sanne Thijssen (NED).

Another five-star win for Bertram Allen

Bertram collected another five-star win in the Netherlands on saturday night. Riding the 13-year-old gelding Quiet Easy 4 in the CSI5* 1.55m Audi Prize, at Indoor Brabant, where a highly competitive first round allowed 12 combinations through to the jump-off. From a starting field of 38 riders. Once again the chestnut gelding showed himself off as a real speed specialist.

Another victory to Bertram and Molly Malone

It has been a great start for Bertram at the stunning Al Shaqab Arena in Qatar, claiming another CSI5* victory with the mare Molly Malone in the 1.50 m class today. From a field of 41 horses, 14 went clear.

It was a clear victory for Bertram who stopped the clock at 57.70 sec., with the French rider, Roger Yves Bost, completing at 58.04 sec. and into second place. The Swiss rider Pius Schwizer claimed third place at 58.06 sec.

Bertram announces the retirement of Romanov

Bertram Allen announces the retirement of the 19-year-old stallion Romanov ( Born on May 3rd 1998, by Heartbreaker – Fedor ), his top horse and partner for several years. An amazing horse that has done the job at the top level, winning many 5* Grand Prix and taking Bertram Allen to the Top 10 in the world rankings.

Another Grand Prix win for Bertram Allen in Spain

Sunshine Tour has been very successful for Bertram, who yesterday went off with his second Grand Prix victory in Vejer de la Frontera, Spain, riding the 9-year-old stallion Dino W. The duo also won the Big Tour Friday. Bertram is really happy with the grey stallion's achievements:

- Dino was amazing, winning on Friday, and again in the yesterday's Grand Prix. He has learned so much in the last two weeks.

This year’s Sunshine Tour has started out well for Bertram Allen. With High Valley winning the Small Grand Prix Saturday,  the 7yr old mare, Fairytale, topping the lists twice, Baila du Loup winning the 6 yr old class and Dino W  finishing third in the 1.50 m Big Tour D.

Bertram Allen ending up third in the Longines Speed Challenge in Hong Kong

Last year Bertram and Quiet Easy 4 stole the show in Hong Kong by winning the Longines Speed Challenge, as the two flew around the course as the last rider in. This year, arriving fresh from picking up Ireland’s “showjumper of the year” award for the third straight year, Bertram and his quick and clever 13-year-old chestnut gelding ended up third in the Speed class with a time of 69.69 seconds (with the added 4 seconds on the original time: 65.69, caused by faults).

Bertram crowned senior leading show jumper of 2016

This week Bertram, who on Sunday finished runner-up in the Grand Prix at Bordeaux, was honoured for the third year in a row by the Irish Field award as the senior leading show jumper of 2016.
