Bertram & Christy race to victory in the Hong Kong Speed Challenge

Bertram and the 11 yo gelding Christy JNR (Indoctro / Clinton 1) raced to victory in the Hong Kong Speed Challenge on Saturday night, making it a second victory in what is said to be the ‘fastest competition in the world”.

Bertram stopped the clock in unbelivable 60.47 seconds. Behind him came France’s Patrice Delaveau and Vestale de Mazure*HDC (62.88), while fellow Frenchman Kevin Staut, winner of the Speed Challenge in Paris, and Ayade de Septon*HDC were third (62.94).

‘I’m delighted and my horse ran superbly. The people here in Hong Kong really love it. They really enjoy their time and watching the horses. I love it!”  Bertram said.

Izzy shows off 
Earlier on Saturday, Bertram and Izzy finished as one pair out of four who finished on top in the Six Bar (Masters Power Maserati Trophy prize). The winning prize was shared between Wang on Aken Utopia, Laura Renwick on Top Dollar VI, Pilar Lucrecia Cordon on Trix Trax and Bertram on Izzy by Picobello. 

The 11yo gelding also started out very well on Friday with a double clear and a strong 6th place in the 1m50 Hong Kong Jockey Club Trophy on Friday.
